This district preserves over 78,000 well-maintained traditional hanok houses, characterized by low-rise tiled roofs and whitewashed walls arranged in narrow, winding alleyways. Recognized as a UNESCO Cultural Site, it features historic streets like Chim-childae Cheongmyeong-gil where the summer climate is relieved by wooden pavilions and shaded stone paths.
